Other Legal Services

Focused legal services delivered with the same clear advice and attention to detail.

Kee Solicitors is principally a specialist family law firm, but our solicitors also provide a defined range of related personal legal services. These include notarial work, statutory declarations, exhumation applications and other specialist applications within our experience.

Some matters require a short document-certification appointment. Others require legal advice, evidence, court procedure or coordination with an overseas authority. We assess the requirement first so you are booked with the right solicitor and asked to bring the correct documents.

What Other Legal Services Do We Offer?

At Kee Solicitors, our expertise extends beyond family law. We offer a range of additional legal services to support our clients, including notarial and declaratory services. Whatever your legal need, our team is here to provide clear, professional advice.

Notarial work, formal declarations and specialist court applications.

Our notaries can witness or authenticate signatures, certify copies, administer oaths and complete notarial acts for Scottish and overseas use. Where an apostille is required, the underlying document may first need notarisation before it is submitted to the UK Legalisation Office, which issues the apostille.

We can prepare or witness statutory declarations where the relevant law and receiving authority permit. The wording, identity evidence, supporting documents and required witness must be checked before signing.

We also advise on exhumation and other unusual applications that require careful evidence and court or public-authority procedure. We will be clear if the issue falls outside our practice and requires referral to another specialist.

Fees for short appointments are confirmed according to the document and formalities. Matters requiring wider advice or court work are scoped separately.

Tell Us What You Need

Tell us what the document or authority requires before attending.

A notary or solicitor cannot safely assume what an overseas authority, court, school, government department or other recipient will accept. Send us the instructions and draft document in advance wherever possible.

We will confirm whether we can assist, whether attendance must be in person, what identification is required and whether legalisation, translation or another professional is needed.

Where you need wider legal advice, our one-hour fixed-fee initial consultation costs £250 + VAT and includes a written assessment of your options and a tailored estimate for any further work.

Frequently Asked Questions: Our Legal Services

Common questions about the other legal services available at Kee Solicitors.

What is a notary public in Scotland?

A Scottish notary public is usually a practising solicitor with authority to perform notarial acts, including witnessing or authenticating signatures, administering oaths and certifying documents for particular purposes.

It is a formal written declaration of fact made before a person authorised to receive it. The wording, authority and witnessing requirements depend on the law or organisation requiring the declaration.

No. We do not undertake legal aid work. We confirm the fee for defined document services and provide estimates for specialist applications or wider legal advice.

We have offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Whether remote completion is possible depends on the act, document and receiving authority, so this must be checked before the appointment.

Send us the document and any instructions from the receiving authority. We will identify whether you need a notary, statutory declaration, legal advice or another service and confirm the documents and fee before attendance.
